REPEAT VISITORS ENJOY IDYLLIC EVENING AT ILARO COURT

Monday, 8 Feb 2010

It was a marvellous party last Wednesday, February 3, when approximately 160 repeat visitors were feted at Ilaro Court, home of the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Hon. David Thompson and his wife, Mara.

This function was one in a series arranged by the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) during the winter months, i.e., January to April. According to Bernard Phillips, Manager, Planning & Reporting, BTA, they are wildly successful, with valuable repeat visitors to Barbados as the special guests.

Former CBC TV news anchor Doug Hoyte was the Master of Ceremonies, but the schoolchildren from Mount Tabor Primary and some secondary institutions were definitely the hit of the evening. They welcomed the guests, performed and mingled with those who were present.

The Prime Minister also commanded his fair share of attention as he welcomed the guests to his reception and confirmed how special they were and how their loyalty was prized by all Barbadians.

“The feedback from the visitors has been very positive. They are especially delighted by the participation of the schoolchildren and the fact that they are in the Prime Minister’s residence. This visit to Ilaro Court is the highlight of their visit.”

Phillips noted that he had met a Canadian who had visited Barbados over 40 times at the recent party.

Near the end of the evening there was a video presentation on the history of Ilaro Court.

As a special treat, gift bags were distributed which contained rum, sugar, pepper sauce and guava cheese.
